A paradox is a statement that is self-contradictory because it often contains two statements that are both true, but in general, cannot both be true at the same time.

“Cherrapunji in India is the wettest place on earth, yet it has repeated water shortages.”

The book explains why this may be the case in some situations:

“In the modern era, water shortages are rarely about water, and more often due to bad policies and the lack of proper technology.”
