A paradox is a statement that is self-contradictory because it often contains two statements that are both true, but in general, cannot both be true at the same time.
This next one is not quite a paradox, but it certainly is surprising on first glance:
“Cherrapunji in India is the wettest place on earth, yet it has repeated water shortages.”
The book explains why this may be the case in some situations:
“In the modern era, water shortages are rarely about water, and more often due to bad policies and the lack of proper technology.”
